The Mike Young Productions depiction of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe hired Dean Stefan to write the pilot-movie and he ended up becoming the Story Editor for the entire series. He was in many cases responsible for hiring writers to handle new stories for the inhabitants of Eternia. Couple of them had He-Man toys and watched the cartoon when they were younger, like Steven Melching and Erik Runnels.
Among the many talents were also few who had previous writing experience with the brand during Filmation days, such as Michael Reaves on He-Man and Brooks Wachtel on She-Ra, as well as Larry DiTillio who worked on both He-Man and She-Ra.
​Also Michael Halperin, who wrote the Filmation Series Bible, helped develop the series.
